Below is an outline of the FIFA 19 competitive eSports ecosystem, known as the EA SPORTS FIFA 19 Global Series, from the release of the game on PS4 and Xbox One all the way through to the 2019 FIFA eWorld Cup Grand Final. This page will be updated regularly as firm dates and locations are confirmed and we will also be listing the winners of each event as they take place.

FIFA 19 players will need to have followed the below steps (taken from fifa. com) in order to take part in the EA SPORTS FIFA 19 Global Series:

Register on FUTChampions. com by Oct 31, 2018. Play in Weekend League and achieve at least 27 Wins to become FUT Champions Verified. FUT Champions Verified competitors may be invited to and play in Online qualification competitions, competing head-to-head against other top eligible players to earn a spot at a live event. Earn EA SPORTS FIFA 19 Global Series Points through live events and the Weekend League to get placed on the leaderboard. Qualify for the Playoffs by finishing in the Top 60 on the points leaderboard at the end of the year.

EA have altered the qualification process this year so that year-long consistency is now rewarded, as opposed to an exceptional one-off performance. An example of this is the exclusion of the Last Chance Qualifier - which accounted for a sizable number of participants in last year's Global Series Playoffs - from the FIFA 19 eSports calendar. Instead, strong performances in offline tournaments throughout the year could earn players enough Global Series Points to make the playoffs. Additionally, the Weekend League will no longer earn competitors direct qualification into offline events, but will offer Global Series Points which could be crucial come the playoffs.

The FIFA 19 eSports scene is set up so that everything ultimately feeds into FIFA eWorld Cup Grand Final qualification. Last year, over 20 million players competed throughout the year before Mosaad ‘Msdossary’ Aldossary was crowned FIFA 18 world champion at the O2 Arena in London, taking home a cool $250,000 in the process. After the success of the FIFA 18 cycle, there has been a considerable expansion in the ecosystem this time around. Here are the various qualification routes to the Grand Final, including a breakdown of the Global Series Points available in each:

There will be a total of six offline FUT Champions Cups this year (compared to two during the FIFA 18 cycle), with one taking place each month from November until April. Players must first qualify online to participate, and each event will feature a minimum of 32 players per platform.

The Global Series Points on offer at each FUT Champions Cup are as follows:

3rd-4th: 625

5th-8th: 450

9th-16th: 275

17th-32nd: 150

The FIFA eClub World Cup - which sees eSports teams competing against each other - returns this year and has now been classified as a 'Major', which is also the case for the inaugural FIFA eNations Cup. Details on this new addition to the calendar will be released in due course.

The Global Series Points on offer at these two tournaments are as follows:

5th-8th: 450

9th-16th: 275

17th-32nd: 150

Seven Licensed Qualifying events will take place throughout the year. These will be on a smaller scale and will vary in size between 16 and 32 players per platform, but will offer the opportunity for eligible players around the world to compete via online qualifiers. Further details on these events will be released in due course.

Once again, there will be FIFA eSports versions of football leagues around the world taking place, with Global Series Points on offer in each. The leagues that have so far been officially announced as forming part of the Global Series ecosystem are as follows: Virtuelle Bundesliga, eDivisie, eSuperliga, eLiga, Virtual La Liga esports, eLigue 1, eMLS, ePremier League, E-League, eAllsvenskan, Ekstraklasa and the eJ. League.

The Global Series Points on offer at each Official League Partner are as follows:

There is also the potential for future leagues to get involved, and if that is to be the case, the following Global Series Points will be on offer:

Sony will be hosting a succession of PS4-only tournaments at various locations around the world, which may have country or region restrictions attached to them.

Although these no longer offer direct qualification to offline tournaments, eligible players can earn Global Series Points by competing in every FUT Champions Weekend League between November and April.

The FIFA 19 Global Series Playoffs will be the final opportunity for eligible players to collect Global Series Points for qualification to the FIFA eWorld Cup 2019. The participants will consist of the top 64 players on each console (the top 60 from each Global Series Points leaderboard, and the top four players from each FIFA Online leaderboard).

FIFA 19 Kick Off mode allows you to create quick matches to play against CPU (up to 4 vs CPU) or your friends. You can play with all available teams and clubs using the Kick Off mode. A Women’s team cannot be played against a Men’s team.

Kick Off mode is available under PLAY menu in FIFA 19.

FIFA 19 includes a brand-new Kick-Off mode. The new FIFA 19 Kick-Off opens up the mode with new match types, stat tracking, and more, making it easier and more enjoyable for you to take on your friends anywhere that you play FIFA 19.

In addition to Classic Kick-Off, which is simply a normal match without added visuals or modified rules, there are five new match types that players can choose from UEFA Champions League, House Rules, Best Of Series, Home & Away, and Cup Finals. Each type has a twist on the normal match experience in Kick-Off, keeping things interesting and fresh every time you play.

UEFA Champions League – The most prestigious club competition in the world is just as integrated into Kick-Off as it is to the rest of FIFA 19. From group stage matches to the Final, you can set up a custom Champions League match with specific visuals, rules, and more that provide a realistic, immersive tournament experience. House Rules – If you have ever wanted to play a match in FIFA with different rules—or no rules at all—the House Rules match type is just for you. You can set up a match with a selection of custom rules, including No Rules, Survival, Long Range, First to. . ., and Headers & Volleys.

Survival Mode – Each time a user scores a goal, a random player from the scoring club is removed (excluding the goalkeeper) to create a challenge for the player with a score advantage. No Rules – Anything goes in this match type, in which there are no offside calls, fouls, or bookings. Long Range – Any goal scored inside the box will count as one goal, but goals scored from outside the box count as two goals. First to … – This match type lets you set a custom win condition, whether it’s first to score (golden goal), first to three goals, etc. The match will still play to the clock and go through full time, as well as extra time and penalties, if you choose. Headers & Volleys – You can only score in this match type with a header or a volley. Free kicks and penalties also count, but any other goal scored using your feet outside of a volley will be disallowed.

Best Of Series – Play classic matches in a three - or five-match series to determine an overall winner. Home & Away – This is a two-legged match type in which you play one home and one away match to determine the overall winner. The winner is determined by the aggregate score, which is the team that has scored the most combined goals from those two matches. If the teams are level after two matches, the team with the most away goals will be determined the winner. If the teams are still level, the match will go to extra time, then to a penalty shootout. Cup Finals – Play your match as one of a handful of real-life cup finals, including the Champions League Final, Europa League Final, FA Cup Final, and others. Official kits, badges, match balls, and authentic broadcast overlays (for a select few tournaments) provide an authentic cup final experience.

Now you can track your Kick-Off mode record and stats, including detailed analytics, from all matches played within the mode. Use the stats to analyze and refine your game plan, tweak your pre-game tactics, and prepare for every match. This advanced system tracks all available Kick Off mode gameplay information about you and your opponent. With a host of detailed, immersive information, FIFA 19 allows you to approach every Kick-Off match just like you would an actual game of football, utilizing tactics and strategies gleaned from your stats.

You can view your objective stats or compare them to any opponent that you have faced in Kick-Off mode.

In FIFA 19 Kick Off mode, you can create a single friendly/exhibition match to play against CPU or friends on your PC/Console. Each side can choose any team/club from FIFA 19. You can completely customise almost anything related to your match in a Kick Off mode match (such as your formation, tactics, your match setting and etc). You don’t need necessary an internet connection to play the Kick Off mode in FIFA 19, only using Live Form feature requires an internet connection to EA servers.

Live Form in FIFA Kick Off mode allows you to update your team’s lineup and formations with the latest stats of your club in real life using your internet connection. It also automatically creates a match session based on favourite club’s upcoming fixture, a feature which was previously known as Match Day. You can turn the Live Form on and off.

EA Sports have finally unveiled the FIFA 19 Team of the Year, with a shortlist of 55 players whittled down to a star-studded starting XI.

The vote was partially carried out by media outlets, athletes and FIFA community members, and there were certainly some surprises in the results.

Mohamed Salah, Eden Hazard and Neymar all missed the cut but Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe were selected in an electric forward line.

And now the player ratings for the attacking unit have been revealed, with the trio found in packs until 6pm on Tuesday.

Ronaldo and Messi have both been handed maximum overall ratings of 99, with the duo statistically considered to be the best players on the game.

Ronaldo’s upgraded card sees his shooting ramped up while the Juventus star’s pace and physicality is frightening.

Meanwhile, Barcelona talisman Messi has also had his shooting maxed out and will be untouchable with the ball at his feet after being handed 99 dribbling stats.

The Argentinian’s pace is deemed to be level with that of his great rival Ronaldo, while his passing is cut above the former Real Madrid star.

The front three is completed by Paris Saint-Germain wonderkid Kylian Mbappe after a breakthrough year which saw him lift the World Cup with France.

Mbappe is a speedster out wide and will now be impossible to catch with his 99 pace set to terrorise FUT defences all around the world.

The 20-year-old’s physicality is also impressive but it’s his dribbling and shooting which will cause most problems, rated 97 and 96 respectively.

EA Sports are set to unveil the ratings for the rest of the team over the next few days, with cards likely to cost several million FIFA coins on the transfer market.

Lionel Messi’s FIFA 19 stats have been leaked online – and yet again he’s been handed a raw deal when it comes to passing.

The Argentine is perhaps one of the greatest passers of the ball in the world – yet every year EA refuse to give his standard card a score in the 90s.

And this year is no different – with the Barca man climbing just two points from his FIFA 18 passing score of 86 to 88.

Understandably, Messi fans on Reddit are less than impressed and can’t believe the Barca maestro hasn;t hit the 90s.

One wrote: “At least he’ll be higher rated this year. Passing is still a joke though.”

Another said: “88 passing for one of the greatest playmakers of our time lol!”

It’s also worth noting that, as per last year, Messi only have four star skills and weak foot – again, something that seems a tad harsh.

FIFA 19’s demo will reportedly land on September 13.

Gaming website TrueAchievements claim a source close to the game revealed the date – and also confirmed a section of The Journey will be available to preview.

Here’s everything you need to know about the demo – from how many teams you’ll get to play with, to the features you’ll be able to try.

How many teams will be in playable in the demo?

There have been reports that 13 teams will be playable, but so far we’ve only seen nine.

Amazingly, Dortmund were only recently added to the roster after the German team dumped PES and switched allegiances to EA.

It’s not known yet what stadiums will feature, but we’re almost certain there won’t be nine of them.

The demo will likely offer offline play with up to two players – and may include a playable section of The Journey, although no details have been confirmed.

There are also a host of new gameplay features and tweaks set to arrive to this year’s game.

Here are the most important.

Will I be able to play online?

No – the demo will be offline only.

How long will matches last?

You’ll be locked to four-minute halves.

What season / weather conditions are available?

Autumn / Fall / rain / clear are the available options.

Will The Journey be included?

Yes – there are reports there will be a playable section.

How big is the file to install?

Playstation 4: 7.3 Gb

XBox One: 8.0 Gb

Game plans have been introduced this year – which are set up before a match.

Here, you can set what tactics your team has depending on certain situations – such as if they’re 1-0 up or losing a match.

Once you have made the plans, simply assign to a D-pad press and you’re good to go.

Unlike last year, when it was hard to see if a tactical option had been executed, there’s now a clear toggle for on-the-fly instructions.

You’re also now able to adjust your team’s width and depth, as well as instruct your full backs what kind of runs to make in attack or your centre back to cover certain areas of the pitch.

There’s greater control over your team’s defensive style, too – with new settings: “pressure after possession loss,” “constant pressure,” “drop back,” “balanced,” and “pressure on heavy touch.”

If you tap Circle or B just as your foot hits the ball, you massively increase the chance of striking it into the top corner.

It’s all about timing, so get it wrong and you’ll be punished with a scuffed shot.

Revised mini-map

A simple but welcome change.

One team will now have triangle icons, the other will have circles – so it’s easier to see who’s who.

EA has got everything from the Champions League logo including the commentary team, Derek Rae and Lee Dixon.

It’ll also have its own mode and the ability to create custom tournaments. Amazing.

This was slightly overshadowed by the Champions League announcement, but yes the Europa League will also be in FIFA 19.

Expect the full broadcast package, too.

General gameplay

Passing has been re-worked to feel more natural, while an active touch system allows better first touches from different parts of the body.

It also opens up the possibility of a feint attack – where, as the ball approaches, you can shift your weight one way, before going the other.

Stepovers, too, are reportedly easier to pull off and look more convincing – making it harder for your opponent to defend against.

Finally, 50/50 battles over a loose ball will now take into account more variables than last year – such as reaction time.

While it’s not as overpowered as it has been in recent instalments, pace is still important in FIFA 19. Whether you’re chasing an attacker or a through ball, having the fastest players in your team can make all the difference. When assessing players, Sprint Speed and Acceleration are given a lot of weight, nobody seems to favour slow players. 93 sprint speed and 91 acceleration. The Shakhtar striker also has 78 potential.

79 rated currently, could grow to 82. An effective right winger with 93 sprint speed and 91 acceleration.

No real growth potential here but matches the previous entrants’ 93 sprint speed and beats them with 92 acceleration.

Matches Gerso with sprint speed at 93 and acceleration at 92. The Spaniard plays at left midfield and only has one potential growth point.

Plays on the left wing, where 93 sprint speed and 92 acceleration comes in handy. 30 years old now though, so those stats might start to decline.

Another player with 93 sprint speed and 92 acceleration. The real point of difference here for the 76 rated Senegalese left midfielder is his 87 potential.

Davies can match Sarr’s sprint speed, acceleration and potential – 93, 92 and 87 respectively. The Canadian left midfielder starts out at 72 overall though.

This Japanese striker is unlikely to grow beyond his 67 rating, but 93 for both pace attributes is fantastic.

Another player whose pace is far beyond his overall rating. The Australian right midfielder also has 93 for both stats.

Thankfully not everyone on our list of fastest players in FIFA 19 is a winger. The Newcastle right back has pace to burn with both stats ranked at 93. His 81 potential means that he still has room for improvement though.

Two full backs in a row, also with 93 for both stats. Alba is older than Yedlin so probably won’t grow any more but is already an exceptional defender.

93 sprint speed and acceleration in a striker makes it much more viable to play lofted through balls. The Leipzig man is already an impressive 83 overall but has the potential to reach 87.

Also a striker but his 62 rating and 68 potential would put him behind Werner. However, he can match him for sprint speed and his 94 acceleration edges it.

81 rated but definitely an exciting prospect considering his 86 potential. His 93 sprint speed and 94 acceleration is invaluable on the wing.

Another ageing winger. The Frenchman still has an impressive 93 sprint speed and 95 acceleration.

Unsurprisingly makes our list of the fastest players in FIFA 19. 93 sprint speed and 95 acceleration is deadly enough, whether he grows a little more or not.

His age and 87 potential make him an interesting option for left midfield. 93 sprint speed and 95 acceleration is more than enough to beat most right backs.

Another left midfielder, but the American is 69 rated and has 76 potential so might be more appropriate if you’re playing in a lower league. He also has 93 sprint speed but his 96 acceleration beats Coman’s.

Unlikely to grow any more but shouldn’t start to decline for a few seasons. The skilful Juventus winger has the joint-best acceleration in the game at 97, but his 93 sprint speed means he finishes outside the top half.

Not the best acceleration at 85, but his 94 sprint speed lands him spot #25. Considering he is only 70 overall, those stats could improve by the time the right midfielder hits his 81 potential.

Despite his 94 sprint speed, 87 acceleration means he is more effective over longer distances. A 67 rated right midfielder who has 72 potential.

An interesting striking option. 94 sprint speed and 89 acceleration is phenomenal for a 69 rated player. Even better is the fact he can reach 81 overall in the right conditions.

Another striker, but not quite as highly rated – 66 overall with 73 potential. Can match Oberlin’s 94 sprint speed but his 90 acceleration is superior.

74 rated striker that can grow a little and hit his 77 potential. 94 sprint speed and 91 acceleration is seriously impressive.

No real growth potential but if you’re looking for a striker around the 70 mark, you’ll have a hard time beating 94 sprint speed and 92 acceleration.

Also has 94 sprint speed and 92 acceleration, making him one of the quickest full backs in the game. The West Ham man can hit 76 overall but starts out at 73.

If you need a reliable and pacey striker, Acheampong may be your man. 94 sprint speed and 92 acceleration is very good for a 75 rated player. His 80 potential means he could get even better.

Another striker with 94 sprint speed and 92 acceleration. His 81 rating and 87 potential means he is more suited to a Champions League level club.

Another player with 94 sprint speed, 92 acceleration but the Real Madrid youngster is a left winger. His 77 rating is decent enough but they splashed the cash because of his 92 potential.

Considering this striker is only 61 overall and is only likely to hit 64 at his peak, 94 sprint speed and 93 acceleration is exceptional.

Pace stats at 94 and 93 are useful in a right midfielder. Kiwomya is rated 62 overall but has a potential of 74, making it likely that a team outside of League One snaps him up.

Another right midfielder with 94 sprint speed and 93 acceleration. Bifouma is a more readymade option starting out at 75 overall.

An incredibly pacey left midfielder, considering his overall rating is only 68. The Argentinian has 94 for both sprint speed and acceleration.

Barkhuizen also has 94 for both pace attributes. However, he plays on the right, is rated 71 overall and can reach 74.

Plays on the left but makes the top 10 paciest players in FIFA 19 because of his 74 potential and 67 starting rating. 94 acceleration and 94 sprint speed makes him worthy of the #10 spot.

Unlikely to grow further than his 74 rating. 94 sprint speed and 95 acceleration makes him the fastest right back in FIFA 19.

A solid right midfield choice at 76 overall but 81 potential. The first player on this list to have 95 sprint speed, he also has a very respectable 91 acceleration.

The fastest striker in FIFA 19, if you’re going by their primary positions. His 88 rating means he’s already one of the best attackers in the game, but 95 sprint speed and 93 acceleration is incredible.

The 75 rated right midfielder isn’t a high growth player, but 95 sprint speed and 94 acceleration means he steals the #5 spot from Aubameyang.

Can match Damm’s 95 sprint speed and 94 acceleration, but his 88 overall rating means he has a lot more ability in other areas.

Number three on our list has 96 sprint speed and 93 acceleration. The Manchester City and Germany international is already rated 86 overall but has a mouthwatering potential of 93.

Whether you play him on the wing or as a striker, Kylian Mbappe is a revelation. A 96 rating for both sprint speed and acceleration is a worry for opposition defences. Don’t forget that although he’s already earned a 87 rating, he has the potential to hit 95 one day.

The fastest player in FIFA 19 career mode is Adam Traore. Although Douglas Costa can match his 97 acceleration, only two others equal his 96 sprint speed. The 75 rated right winger is currently at Wolves, but his 86 potential means he’s bound to find his way to a bigger club eventually.
